Yoga Seva Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating vulnerable groups in the community on the benefits of yoga by partnering with local non-profit agencies and provides classes in the community at no charge.
In 2012, we started yoga classes at a local non-profit, and gained firsthand knowledge about serving students without prior experience with yoga. As these brave women learned the benefits of yoga, they commented on how their newly found practice helped with their common struggle, stress. The weekly class has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from staff and participants. Students comment on how their "yoga class is the best part of the week".
YSI was created to continue building on the work started in 2012. Seva means service and represents the professional service our yoga teachers offer to the community. As additional non-profit agencies reach out for yoga classes, our mission is to provide this service. Currently YSI teaches at organizations serving the homeless, poverty stricken and children of these populations.
YSI offers 8 different 4 week programs to non profit organizations. The courses build knowledge and allow students to progress at their own pace. Common core elements include: mental clarity, inner strength, self awareness, relaxation and connecting with the breath.
